Jon "Bill" William Nutt, 81, of Curtis, Nebraska, died October 4, 2022 at his home in Curtis, NE.
He was born September 27, 1941 in Farnam, NE; son of John and Pauline (Poteet) Nutt. He lived on a farm south of Curtis until school age and then the family moved into Curtis.
Bill graduated from UNSA in 1959. The day after his graduation, he went to work for the Nebraska Department of Roads and worked for them for 50 years. He worked in maintenance for 30 years, and then as a supervisor for 20 years.
On September 2, 1963 he married Judy Werkmeister in Oberlin, KS. To this union in 1966 a daughter, Rhonda was born. In 1987 a grandson Dustin was born and in 1989 a grandson Eric was born. His family was his whole life.
Bill was a member of the Methodist Church, and the Fire and Ambulance Department. Bill retired in 2009 and stayed busy restoring John Deere tractors and boarding horses. The activity that he enjoyed the most was sitting in his big chair on the porch.
Survivors include wife, Judy Ann Nutt of Curtis, NE; daughter, Rhonda (Jim) Jochim, grandsons, and Dustin (Jackie) Haller, Eric (Janette) Haller. Six great-grandchildren, Jenna, Jude, Adalyn, Gabriel, Matias and Ashanti, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Stan (Jackie) Nelson and Roger (Jolene) Farrar.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents John and Pauline Nutt, his in-laws Art and Verneta Werkmeister, and brother, Marion Nutt.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Curtis, NE; Friday, October 7, 2022, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Services will be held at Curtis Cemetery, October 8, 2022 at 2:00 pm with Roland Nutt officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Curtis Fire Department, or the Curtis EMT's.
