Walter Schultz

Walter Junior Schultz, 87, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died August 31, 2020 at Emerald Nursing and Rehab in Cozad, NE.

He was born October 11, 1932 in Cumberland, MD son of Walter and Anne Schultz. Walter grew up in Pennsylvania.

Walt joined the United States Army from 1952-1957 and served during the Korean Conflict. It was during this time that he met his future wife Joyce Parmenter.  In September of 1955 Walt and Joyce were united in marriage. To this union three children were born: Jerrald, Brenda, and J.R..

After his honorable discharge from the Army, he spent most of his life as a truck driver, ending his career with Mann Hay Company.

Walt enjoyed riding his Harley, as fast as it would go, hunting, and collecting "Junk" with Bob Webber.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry (Evelyn) Schultz of Gothenburg, J.R. (Alice) Schultz of Gothenburg; daughter, Brenda (Duane) Shepherd of Brady, NE; 12 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, sister, Shirley Nelson of Martinsburg, WV along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by wife, Joyce Schultz, his parents, his brother Jim Schultz, and brother-in-law Bob Nelson.

Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Thursday, September 3, 2020 at 11:30 am with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.

Burial will take place at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to Faith Chapel, 520 9th St, Gothenburg, NE 69138.
