Vivian R. was born on May 2, 1911 to Leon & Rose (Jorgenson) Taylor on their family farm north of Cozad. Vivian was an only child. Her father was a lay pastor at the country church located on their farm. Vivian helped her father by bringing coal for burning in the church stove.
Vivian attended rural Cozad schools and graduated from Cozad high school. While in high school Vivian was involved in choir and dance. Vivian and her girlfriends traveled to Gothenburg football games where she met her future husband. Vivian and Robert Earl Stevenson were married at home in 1930.
Vivian and Bob had one son Randy and two daughters Roberta and Sharon. Later Vivian and Bob divorced.
Vivian raised her children and later helped raise her grandchildren. Vivian was a great seamstress and made all of her Children's clothing and for others. Vivian cared for many children as a nanny which she always cherished.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her son-in-law Jim Larson.
Survivors include her son Randy Stevenson, her daughters Roberta Larson and Sharon Stevenson; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Closed Casket Visitation will be held Friday, July 18, 9-5 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 9:30 am at the Cottonwood Cemetery, 12 miles East of Gothenburg, Nebraska, (on old Hwy) with Pastor Kirk Larson officiating.
Burial will take place in the Cottonwood Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Gothenburg Longterm Care or the American Diabetes Association.
