Verneta Belle Werkmeister, 87, of Curtis, Nebraska, died April 14, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Cozad.
Verneta Werkmeister was born on August 24, 1924 to Fred & Mollie Kugler six miles South West of Wellfleet. She attended Ash Grove country school through the eighth grade. She graduated from NSA High School.
She married Arthur Werkmeister on June 22, 1942 to this union three children were born , Judy Nutt, Jackie Nelson, and Jolene Farrar. Verneta worked for several years at the Curtis Pharmacy, University of Nebraska School of Agriculture as a cook, and was an Avon representative, but her joy came in being a farm wife and mother. Verneta always enjoyed dancing and quilting. Her biggest joys were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters: Judy (Bill) Nutt and Jackie (Stan) Nelson all of Curtis;, and Jolene (Roger) Farrar of Kearney; Grandchildren: Rhonda (Jim) Jochim, Peggy (Kevin) Fritsche, Rick (Debbie) Nelson and Shawna Culotta; seven great grandchildren: Dustin (Jackie) Haller, Eric Haller, Courtney Fritsche, Devon Fritsche, Tyler Nelson, Jordan Nelson, and Carter Culotta; and a host of family and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband Arthur, her parents, her brothers Darrell and Wayne Kugler, her sisters: Dessie Freytag, Ruby Freytag, Helen Latimer, Mildred Werkmeister, Bonnie Briggs, and infant sister Orpha Kugler.
