Biography

Verna Christina Aden, 93, of Gothenburg died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.

Verna was born in Gothenburg, NE on September 18, 1914, to Hie M. George and Etta (Ackerman) Aden. She grew up in Gothenburg and attended school at Gothenburg High School graduating in 1933.

Verna married Renkie Aden on Feb. 5, 1936 in Gothenburg. She was a member of American Lutheran Church Gothenburg, NE. Verna was a member of the church choir, a Sunday school teacher and member of the ladies aid at the American Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, the extension club, and the community concert series.

Verna enjoyed writing poetry, painting, gardening, cooking and crafts. She especially enjoyed entertaining family and friends.

She is survived by two Daughters Adelle wife of Ken Williams of Gothenburg; Luella wife of Rich Heimann of Mission Viejo, CA; three Sisters-in-law Alvina Aden of Gothenburg, NE; Katherine Aden of Gothenburg, NE; Lena Aden of Gothenburg, NE;
Seven Grandchildren Stephanie Heimann of New York City, NY; Jennifer Heimann of Denver, CO; Mike husband of Patty Heimann of San Diego, CA; Jeff husband of Alona Heimann of Los Angels, CA; Kirk husband of Chris Haynes of Gothenburg, NE; Heather Franzen of Gothenburg, NE and Nathan Haynes of Lincoln, NE; and seven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers: Reinie, Victor, Martin, Don, two sisters: Alma Block and Regina Hicken and son-in-law Rodger Haynes.

Funeral services will be held at the American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg, NE, at 3:30 PM on Saturday, July 12th, with Lonna Grabenstein, PMA officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 11 from 1:00-9:00 pm. with family present from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel.

Visitation will also by held two hours prior to the services 1:30 pm Saturday at American Lutheran Church.

Interment will take place at the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Memorial may be sent to American Lutheran Church or Donor's Choice.
