Thomas Charles Dunphy, 77, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died December 21, 2020 at home.
He was born January 14, 1943 in New York, NY, son of Richard T. and Marjorie M. (Wills) Dunphy. Thomas married Bonny Kirsten on February 13, 1965 at Omaha, NE. While serving in the Air Force they lived in Guam, Missouri, Hawaii, Illinois, Ohio and Germany and California before returning to Gothenburg, NE. To this union a son and daughter were born, Thomas II, and Stephanie. Bonny preceded him in death on April 11, 2017.
He served in the Air Force for 28 years and retired in 1990.
Survivors include son, Thomas (Charity) Dunphy II of Gothenburg, NE; daughter, Stephanie Janette Rucker of Columbus, OH ;Step Son, Darren (Karen) Knoell of Omaha, NE; two sister in laws, Janet Ostendorf of Gothenburg, NE, Alyce (Nick) Schaaf of Emmet, NE; five grandchildren; Avery, Bethany, and Brogan Dunphy, Jordan and Cameron Rucker; three sisters, Meg Dunphy of New York, NY, Mary Dunphy, and Ellen (Peter) Grabowski of FL; brother, John Dunphy of Nashville, TN.
Thomas was preceded in death by wife, Bonny Dunphy, his parents Richard and Marjorie Alice (Wills) Dunphy, In-laws, Opal A. and Everett L. Kristein, brother-in-laws, Brian Wagenaar and Richard Ostendorf.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, January 15, 2021 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE.
Inurnment will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE.
Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department, 602 Tenth Street, Gothenburg, NE 69138.
