Steven Ehlers

Biography

Steven M Ehlers, 48, of Gothenburg passed away on November 9, 2007.

Steve was born on June 14, 1959 at Hebron, NE to Don & Emma Jean (Hayes) Ehlers. He grew up in Deshler and attended Deshler High School. He lived in Minden from 1982-1993. In 1993 Steve and his family moved to Gothenburg.

On October 24, 1982 Steve married Jennie Lynn Reinke at Hebron, NE. To this union 3 children were born: Dustin, Dane, and Jessa.

Steve was involved in construction of center pivot irrigation systems for over 20 years and for the Union Pacific Rail Road for 4 years. Steve enjoyed attending his children's sporting events, doing construction in his free time and helping his friends and neighbors.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Don Ehlers, his grandparents: Iona Ehlers, Zelma Hayes & Albert Hayes.

Survivors include his wife Jennie of Gothenburg; sons Dustin of Seward, and Dane of Gothenburg; daughter Jessa of North Platte; his mother Jean Ehlers of Deshler; 2 brothers Douglas (Julie) Ehlers of Hildreth & Jason (Colette) Ehlers of Lincoln; a sister Debra Kaenel of Broussard, LA; a grandfather Roy Ehlers of Deshler, NE and numerous nieces & nephews.

Memorials Directed To: American Lutheran Church Youth Fund, 1512 Ave G, Gothenburg, NE 69138.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, at the American Lutheran Church Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Matthew Groenke and Lonna Grabenstein, PMA officiating.

Visitation will be 12:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Wed., Nov. 14 with family present from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel.
Burial will be in the American Lutheran Cemetery Gothenburg, NE.
