Stanley Roethemeyer

Stanley Lavern Roethemeyer, 63, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 6, 2018 unexpectedly of natural causes in Gothenburg.

He was born December 12, 1954 in Maywood, NE, son of Melvin William and Elda Regina (Wendland) Roethemeyer.

Stan graduated from Kearney State College, Creighton, and Mount Mary College in Yankton, SD. Stan served his country in the Army from 1973 to 1995; while serving as a medic he decided to be an anesthetist. He earned his CRNA in 1985.   He moved to Gothenburg from Omaha in 1998.  Stan was employed at Gothenburg Health.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Stan took several mission trips to Africa and Haiti to provide medical help and share Jesus with those he came in contact with. He was known for his big heart and the joy and laughter he brought about to everyone he met.

Survivors include his children - Lindsey (Heath) Baskin and David Roethemeyer; grandchildren Shalyce, Natalia, and Samuel; Jerry and Pat Roethemeyer and family, Melva Jean Geiser and family, Joyce and Gary Jesse and family, Donna Brown and family, Phylis and Jay Anderson and family, Donald Roethemeyer and family, Gordon and Mary Roethemeyer and family, Virginia Roethemeyer and family.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Elda Roethemeyer; brother Randy Roethemeyer; brothers-in-law, Denny Geiser and Jim Brown; niece, Diane Roethemeyer; nephews, Matthew and Eugene Jesse, and Lane Geiser.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 10:30 am with Rev. Jeff Cottingham officiating.

Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to the Samaritans Purse -earmarked for Medical Missions.
