Biography

Shirley Eileen Vickers, 71, of Farnam, passed away on October 9, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

She was born on April 16, 1938 to Herbert and Zella (Adkisson) Messersmith at rural Fontier county, NE. She graduated from Farnam High School in 1956. On May 27, 1956 she married Tom Vickers at the First Baptist Church in Gothenburg . To this union three children were born. Shirley and Tom lived in Farnam Nebraska and for the last 30 years also mantained a residence in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Shirley's indomitable spirit and happy nature carried her through several heart surgeries and an assortment of serious illnesses in the past 30 years with courage. Shirley's family would like to thank all of those who have donated their love, support, encouragement and donated blood and platelets over the years.

Shirley was an avid partner in ranching/lobbying business until her passing.

Shirley is survived by her spouse Tom , daughter - Cindy (Doug) Hobelman of Gothenburg, NE; sons - Mark (Pat) Vickers of Farnam, NE, Matt (Nancy) Vickers of Arnold, NE; granddaughters - Lisa (Jay) Lindholm, Valerie (Ray) Ferris, Megan Frazho; grandsons - Rudy (Trish) Vickers, Kevin (Jes) Vickers, Eric Vickers, Zach Frazho, Cameron Frazho; and great-grandchildren Tracy Jay, Skyeanna, Rhett Lindholm, Drew and Charli Vickers, Clayton Vickers Drake Ferris and her brother - Keith (Lea) Messersmith of Farnam, NE, and numerous family members and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, Herbert and Zella Messersmith.
