Sara Jane Ostergard, 85, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died October 20, 2011 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg, NE; after a brief illness.
She was born July 13, 1926, on the family farm south of North Platte to Fred and Lula (Dawson) Moore. She graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1943.
She married Gage Ostergard July 7, 1946 at Antelope Baptist Church south of Gothenburg
She worked at Union Life Insurance in Lincoln, NE and Farmland Service Co-op and Wheelers in Gothenburg. Along with her husband, she volunteered as a Hospice care griever, helped make noodles at the Gothenburg Senior Center, provided food for the Red Cross Blood Mobile in Gothenburg and staffed the 4-H cafe at the County Fair in Lexington. She belonged to the Dawson County Extension Club and the Gothenburg First United Methodist Church where she was involved closely with the United Methodist Women and the projects that helped the new church building.
Survivors include daughter Barbara Jean (Chuck) Havlicek of Manhattan, KS; sons Steve (JoAn) of Gothenburg, NE; Nic (Karlene) Callaway, NE; John (Janet) of Grand Island, NE; four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Brother, Fred Moore Jr. of Gothenburg; special nephew Joe (Mandy) Moore one great niece and one great nephew of Gothenburg. Along with many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 65 years, Gage who died on September 19, 2011.
