Ruth Rylander

Biography

Ruth M Rylander, 93, of Gothenburg, died on September 11, 2008 at the North Platte Regional Medical Center.

Ruth was born on January 27, 1915 at Almena, KS to Rudolph and Ruth Alice (Fishburn) Portiner. Ruth and her family moved to Gothenburg when she was 6.

Ruth married John Arlt on October 18, 1935 at North Platte. They had a daughter L. Ruthie. John died on April 26, 1944. Ruth then married Frank Rylander on August 15, 1946 at Lexington. Frank died on December 20, 1962.

Ruth spent most of her life as a homemaker. She also taught Sunday School for many years at the Church of the Nazarene. She loved her church and teaching. Ruth enjoyed reading, sewing, making quilts, drawing, writing, spending time with her pets and her family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, 5 brothers: Harry, Harvey, Fred, Everett, and Walter; a sister Viola Standford; great grandchildren Anthony and Mindy Howell.

Ruth is survived by her daughter L. Ruthie Rylander of Gothenburg; a sister Maxine Lawson of Lincoln; 2 grandchilren: Tammy Kottwitz of Hastings and Robin Howell of Gothenburg; 5 great grandchildren: Mandy Miller of Minden, Shannon and Magen James of Lincoln, Ashley and Brandon Howell of Gothenburg; and 4 great great grandchildren Abby, Alexander and Breanna Miller of Minden; Camran Howell of Gothenburg.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2:30 pm at the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Rick Rehmert officiating.

Burial will take place in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
