Ruth's young life was spent in school and at developing her skills of sewing, cooking and art. Circumstances demanded that she, at a very young age, be her own support, so she hired out to do housework.

Ruth spent the rest of her life homemaking. Her cooking talents were enjoyed by all. Ruth's excellent sewing talent was used in making clothing for herself and her daughters Valarie and Cheri. Ruth's daughters required dresses as bridesmaids, singers and flower girls - she sewed them and they were beautiful.

Ruth assisted Harvey for 10 years with their involvement in the Farm Bureau organization. She always helped with refreshments.

Ruth was baptized and joined the Baptist Church in her youth and always professed that faith.
