Ronnie L. Schmeeckle, 59, of Cozad, Nebraska, died February 12, 2015 in Cozad, NE.
He was born June 3, 1955 in Cozad, NE, son of Donald and Florence Schmeeckle.
Ron grew up on the rural farm north of Cozad. He attended Kearney State College. He was a member of the Quality Pork board, 4-H, 81-R School Board, American Lutheran Church, and Wednesday night pool.
Ron enjoyed hunting, listening to music and playing the piano, guitar, and also enjoyed going to live concerts, educational television especially history, science and RFD- TV. He also enjoyed swimming, hanging out at Kent's house and watching football games, and his dogs. Ron especially enjoyed spending time with his three sons and family.
Surviving are wife, Kelly Schmeeckle of Cozad, NE, sons, Casey Schmeeckle, Archie Schmeeckle, and Levi Schmeeckle all of Cozad, NE, brothers, Marlan (Sally) Schmeeckle of Gothenburg, NE, and Norman (Jean) Schmeeckle of Hastings, NE, sister, Marlene (Morry) DeLap of Lexington, NE, father and mother-in-law Blaine and Arlene Peterson of Gothenburg, sister-in-law Kristi (Stan) Combs London Mills, IL, brothers-in-law Steve (Ligia) Peterson of Gothenburg, Gregg (Deb) Peterson Lyons, CO, and Kent (Krystal) Peterson of Anchorage, AK, and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Matthew DeLap.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Monday, February 16, 2015, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5-7 pm.
Services will be held at American Lutheran Church, February 17, 2015 at 10:30 am with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.
Interment will follow in the American Lutheran Cemetery.
