Rollie H. Brown, 96, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died August 3, 2020 in North Platte, NE.
He was born December 10, 1923 in Randolph County, MO, son of Onie and Parlee Mae (Harvey) Brown. Rollie spent his early years in MO. He grew up mostly in NE, worked for a while in CA and returned to NE when he thought he would be drafted and worked for Cozad area farmers. On June 10, 1944 he married Dorothy Dyer at Phillipsburg, KS. The couple had four children - Leslie, Daniel, Louise, and Bonnie. He had a deep love for farming the farming way of life. He enjoyed demonstrating hand corn picking to school children. In his later years, he enjoyed restoring antique John Deere tractors. He was a member of the National Antique Tractor Pullers, and was awarded Puller of the Year in 1999. Rollie was always up for adventure and when he was 92 he participated in the Open Road Challenge up by Arnold.
Survivors include two daughters, Louise Diehl of Huron, SD, Bonnie (John) McCarthy of Denton, TX; two sons, Leslie (Diane) Brown of Gothenburg; Dan Brown of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren - Todd, Mary, Lisa, Scott, Jason, Lloyd, Larry, Lynette, Leon, Craig, Crystal, and Curtis; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brothers Charles (June), John (Elaine), Harold (Susie) along with many extended family and many friends.
Rollie was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy E. Brown in 2014, his parents; sisters, Violet, Viola, Josie, Alberta, and Nettie; his son-in-law David Diehl; daughter-in-law Rebecca Brown.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, August 7, 2020, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. with the family present from 10 am to Noon. Masks are recommended.
Graveside Funeral Services will be held at Gothenburg Cemetery, Friday, August 7, 2020 at 2:30 pm with Pastor Larry Viter officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg Senior Center 410 20th Street Gothenburg, NE 69138, Alzheimer's Association 1500 S 70th Street, Suite 201 Lincoln, NE 68506, Meals on Wheels or the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department.
