Roger Brand, 78, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died January 3, 2021 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE .
He was born February 23, 1942 in Lexington, NE, son of Ward and B. Lavilla (Reed) Brand. He graduated from Elwood High School and attended Electrical Trade School in Milford, NE He married Joan (Brell) Brand on May 12th 1963 at the New Hope Lutheran Church in Bertrand, Ne and made their home in Gothenburg, NE. The couple's union was blessed with three children, Michelle, Kristi and Mark.
After attending college and receiving his Master Electricl license certification, Roger started working for Gothenburg, Electric and eventually became co-owner. In 1977, Roger established Brand Electric & Grain Equipment Co located in Gothenburg, Ne. Roger later sold Brand Electric & Grain Equipment Co. to his son, Mark.
Roger was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. He kept busy with helping Mark on the farm and helping with the gun shop. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and playing golf.
He is survived by his three children, daughter, Michelle (Jonathan B.) Johnson of Paducah, KY, daughter, Kristi (Greg) Land of Brady, NE and son, Mark (Lori) Brand of Gothenburg, NE. Nine grandchildren, Amber Land, Crysten (Jessy) Ellison, Austin (Kelsey) Land, Jonathan S. Johnson, Jeramie VanAcker, Mackenzie Brand, Drake Brand, Nathan Sager, and Kyla Sager; and six great grandchildren, Harmony, Liberty, Adalyn, Sophiya, Brayley, and Aiden; sisters Eileen (Harold) Debban, Betty Gaudreault, and sister in law Sue Brand and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joan L. Brand, and brother, Marvin Brand.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, January 8, 2021, 1:00pm ~ 6:00pm with family present from 4:00~6:00pm.
Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2002 27th Street, Gothenburg, NE, January 9th 2021, 10:00 am with Rev. Jeff Cottingham officiating, live streaming will be available on the website.
Burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg Senior Center, 410 20th Street, Gothenburg, NE or to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2002 27th Street, Gothenburg, NE.
