Robert Russell Schmeeckle, 31, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died May 23, 2021 near Cozad, NE.
He was born July 28, 1989 in Omaha, NE, son of Susan Schmeeckle.
Robert lived in Omaha from birth to 1997 then his family moved to Gothenburg where he attended school at Gothenburg and Brady. Follwing graduation, he moved to Mesa, AZ for six years where he attended RSI for HVAC schooling. He returned to Nebraska and worked as a tree trimmer for Double L Tree Service. His special interests were family, motorcycle riding with his mom and step dad, and he loved his dogs Debo, Gunner & Roxy. Robert was one to always put others before himself, and was always making people laugh. He always loved his Nerf gun wars with his nephews.
Survivors include his wife, MayKayla Rhoten of Wichita, KS, mother and step dad, Susan Rae (Jimmy "Pops") Vogt of Overton, NE; two daughters, Ava Schmeeckle, and Hadlee Schmeeckle; son, Kaden Schmeeckle; three sisters, Justina Rodriguez, Shelby Butzke, Shawna Rae Schmeeckle; three brothers-in-law, Tyrel Benson, Aaron Blevins and Jacob Butzke, uncle and aunt, Tim (Teri) Schmeeckle, step brother, AJ Abbot, nieces and nephews, Cyrus, Ethan, Jace, Tierra, and Raelyn, along with many cousins, extended family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dale and Bev Schmeeckle, grandmother, Judy Durand, grandfather, Bob McCoy, grandmother, Mary McCoy, aunt, Linda Durand, uncle, Rick Durand.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, May 26, 2021, 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
Services will be held at The Crossing Fellowship, Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11:00 am with Eric Most officiating.
Memorials may be given to the mental health organization of your choice.
