COWBOY BOB PASSES ON
It was a beautiful day, Tuesday, October 19, 2010. Bob Miller of Brady, Nebraska, made his final transition that evening. He died a peaceful death with friends and family surrounding him, sending him off to his next great adventure in Cowboy Heaven. Many things have been said about Bob, but the truest have been words like, “He lived a true and honest life, and he was brave enough to go ahead and live large.” Another said, “Bob lived his life as he chose, and I wish I had had the courage to do the same.”
Bob was born in 1954, during the days of hope and future plans. The soldiers had come home from the big war, and Bob was the third and only son born to Dale and Lois Miller of Ogallala, later moving to North Platte. They were delighted with their son, and he was favored throughout his formative years. He performed willingly with wit, talent and heroism, amusing and astounding many of his family and friends with stories and jokes about things he had seen and done. He was never boring, but often bored, so he kept himself busy at life. Bob married more than once and had girlfriends who still adore him, but he died with his soul mate at his side. Bob was happy.
Because of his father’s good fortune, Bob grew up to become a true and great cowboy. He knew everything there is to know about horses, dogs, cattle, games, cards, and knew more than most about music and art. He is one of the few, who is honored as a Gold Card carrier, in the PRCA. During his many travels to rodeos, bulldogging, team roping, hazing for others, and generally performing in all-around helpful ways around the arena, he gathered a fortune in stories and tales of adventure. Some stories lasted three days, and others could be told over an evening. Often he liked for his friends to help fill in funny details he had forgotten. Bob had many, many friends. He will be missed.
One of the ways that Bob will be remembered is as a teacher. Bob knew how to calm a nervous rider, to train a rodeo princess candidate, to take the time to encourage someone to step out and try saddling a horse, to learn about roping and riding and things that aren’t taught in school, but are life-long and useful tools for living on this planet. Bob understood the nature of people, and he cared deeply about loving and being loved. Please remember Cowboy Bob well, and send him the kind of understanding that his friends and family are wishing for his beautiful spirit, during this auspicious and wondrous transition.
Surviving are his friend and soul mate, Bunny Wampole of Brady, NE, sisters, Janice and Steve Born of Truth Or Consequences, NM, Jill A. Hepp of Flagler Beach, FL, niece, Kristen Hepp and spouse Sharron Saito of Lafayette, CO, great nephew Nathan and great niece Ariel of Lafayette, CO.
Robert 'Bob' was preceded in death by his parents and all the fallen cowboys that have gone before him.
