Robert James Davis, 90, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died November 22, 2021 at Stonebrook in Broken Bow, NE.
He was born September 15, 1931 in Shenandoah, IA, son of James and Grace (Larsen) Davis.
Robert served his country in the US Navy from April 1949 to July 1969 and 10 years as a reservist. During this time, Robert married Doris Potts on July 22, 1952 at her parents home in Port Clinton, OH, to this union four children were born - Jimmy, Mark, Peggy and Missy. Doris and Bob moved all over the United States as Bob was in the US Navy for over 30 years. Following Bob's retirement, they lived between Council Bluffs, Iowa and the Gothenburg area until they moved back to Gothenburg in 2011.
He enjoyed leather working, watching any kind of western movies or shows and anything big band. Roberts love though was cooking.
Survivors include two daughters, Missy (Lynn) Brittenham of Moorefield, NE, Peggy Brayman of Gothenburg, NE; son, Jimmy Davis of Council Bluffs, IA, eight Grandchildren, 17 Great-Grandchildren, eight Great-Great-Grandchildren, sister, Ruth Sorenson of Council Bluffs, IA, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Robert was preceded in death by wife, Doris Davis, son, Mark Davis, his parents, two brothers, and granddaughter Lily Davis.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Monday, November 29, 2021, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
Private family services will be held at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
