Richard "Rick" Earhart, 72, of Moorefield, Nebraska, died January 17, 2020 of natural causes at his home in Moorefield, NE.
Rick was born August 9, 1947 in at home Moorefield, NE, to Leonard "Neil" and Carrie (Fenton) Earhart. He grew up in Moorefield and attended grade school there. He attended and graduated High School in Farnam. Following High School Rick entered the US Navy where he served his country for four years. Following his time in the Navy he moved back to Frontier County living in Eustis, Maywood and Stockville before remolding and moving back to his childhood home in Moorefield.
Rick married Gladys Crawford in 1971. He worked for Frontier County Roads Department for many years where he took great pride in the roads he cared for. He truly enjoyed grading roads and prided himself to make them the best they could be. Rick was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. If he didn't have a tool for something he would just make one. Rick enjoyed mowing and working on small engines. He didn't like to ask for help and would find ways to do projects by himself. Rick enjoyed fishing, even if when they weren't biting.
He is survived by his son Scott (Amber) Earhart of Kearney, daughter Darla (Steve)Walther of Stockville, four grandchildren Jordan, Jace, Jade and Jessi, great-granddaughter Rayleigh, four siblings Linda (Burt) Knepp of North Platte, Roger (Janita) Earhart of Eustis, Donnie Earhart of Lexington, and Kathy (James) Moore of Gibbon. Along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Landy Earhart and Tony Earhart.
Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, 620 10th St, Gothenburg on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 10:00 am.
Burial will follow in the Moorefield Cemetery, Moorefield, Nebraska.
