Richard "Dick" Ostergard

Richard "Dick" Ostergard, 86, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died November 8, 2017 in Gothenburg, NE.

He was born October 24, 1931 in Gothenburg, son of Harry and Ilene Ostergard.

Dick grew up around Gothenburg and attended and graduated from Gothenburg High School. He served his country in the Army from 1952-1954. Dick married Connie Owings on April 21, 1956 at the Presbyterian Church in Gothenburg. Dick and Connie had two children: Rick and Matt.

He was a member of Fumblers, the American Legion, Elks Club, and the Gothenburg Historical Society and museum. Dick had a passion for sports especially baseball. He loved spending time with family, painting and sculpting

Surviving are his wife Connie Ostergard of Gothenburg; sons, Rick (DeAnn) Ostergard of North Platte , Matt (Suzi) Ostergard of Gothenburg; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren with two special angels arriving soon, brothers, Jack (Mary) Ostergard of Gothenburg, Larry Ostergard of Gothenburg, and Ron (Kayleen) Ostergard of Gothenburg; sisters-in-law Sue Ostergard, Janine (Brad) Stickelman and Donna Owings; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Ilene, in-laws John and Alice Owings, brothers Jim and Betty Ostergard and Don Ostergard, brothers-in-law Jack Owings and Robert and Carol Owings; sister-in-law Joan Ostergard; nephews Steve Ostergard and Court Stickelman.

Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, November 10, 2017 at 11:30 am with Pastor Jamie Norwich McLennan officiating.

Private family burial will take place at Fort Mcpherson National Cemetery

The family asks that In Lieu of Flowers memorials be given to the Gothenburg Historical Society, or the Gothenburg Senior Center, 410 20th Street, Gothenburg, NE 69138
