Biography

Richard Cox, 72 of Sutherland, formerly of Maywood, died on December 12, 2008 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.


Richard was born on March 11, 1936 at Maywood, NE to Richard & Rita (Bates) Cox. He graduated from Maywood high school. Richard served his country in the Army from January 1955-January 1958.


He worked for the Nebraska Dept of Roads. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Lions Club and St. James Catholic Church in Curtis. He enjoyed fishing and sports. His favorite team was the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.


Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and his ex-wife Connie Moser.


Survivors include: two sons: Brian (Leanne) of Maywood, Steve (Candy) of North Platte, two daughters: Julie (Monte) Hazen of Maywood, Amy (Bobby) Gardner of Curtis; brother Delson (Karen) of Aurora, sisters: Mae Annette (Bill) Schnase of Omaha, Jeanie (Gene) Eisenhauer, of Maywood, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; along with numerous extended relatives and friends.


Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until 5:00 pm at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Curtis.


Rosary will be held Monday, December 15, 7 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Curtis.


Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 16, 1:30 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Curtis, with Father Ferdinand Boehem officiating.


Burial will be in the Maywood Cemetery.


Memorial may be directed to the Maywood Community Hall.


Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel of Curtis is in charge of all arrangements.
