Peggy Jean Aden, 78, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died July 23, 2021 at her sons home in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born December 15, 1942 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Royal and Jean Atkinson.
Peggy married Donald Johnson in February of 1962 and they later divorced. She married Lyle Aden on October 26, 1985 at Banner United Methodist Church, Gothenburg.
She was a member of the Banner United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she taught Sunday school, Bible Study and served on many church boards during that time. Peggy was also a proud leader of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Peggy worked as a nurses aide at the Gothenburg Hospital and long term. Lyle and Peggy operated a child care program in their home for 22 years and had many children in and out of their home. Peggy also did numerous flower arrangements for weddings with the help of Lyle.
Peggy enjoyed camping with Lyle and one of their favorite camping trips they did was the yearly church camp out that they kept going for a number of years. Peggy always enjoyed making pancakes for everyone on Sunday morning.
Survivors include sons, Mike (Marci) Johnson of Gothenburg, NE, David (John) Johnson of Renton, WA, step daughter, Brenda Hayes; two step sons, Kelly Aden, Joel (Kim) Aden; brother, Dee (Joanne) Atkinson of Gothenburg, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Lyle Aden, mother, Jean Atkinson, father, Royal Atkinson, and brother-in-law, Don Knauss.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, July 27, 2021, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at Banner Methodist Church, Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10:30 am with Pastor Bonnie Brock and Janie Freeman officiating.
Interment will follow in the Peckham Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorials may be given to the Banner United Methodist Church.
