Pauline G Sukraw, 96, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died December 25, 2021 at Hilltop Estates.
Pauline Gertrude Sukraw, 96, of Gothenburg, went to her heavenly reward on Christmas day 2021. She was born December 5, 1925 to Jay and Virginia (Williams) Rice in Wray, Colorado. She attended grade school at the Lone Star School south of Farnam, Nebraska and graduated from the Curtis School of Agriculture in 1943. She also attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma. Pauline taught in rural schools for several years before marrying Paul Sukraw on June 12, 1949. The couple had two sons, Duane and Kent. They farmed in the Farnam and Maxwell areas before settling on a farm southwest of Gothenburg for the balance of their farming career. In 1962 Pauline returned to teaching in rural schools for several years.
Pauline was a devout Christian and was very involved in church activities. She taught Sunday School as long as she was able and was a mentor to numerous people. She was an accomplished pianist and played and sang for many weddings, funerals, and weekly church services. Pauline received a distinguished service award from the Church of the Nazarene for her years of service to the church.
Pauline is survived by her son, Duane, and his wife Sharon of Gothenburg and five grandchildren: Kevin (Sara)Sukraw of Piedmont, South Dakota, Kelli Sukraw of Rapid City, South Dakota, Michael (Michelle) Sukraw of Oak Harbor, Washington, Kristen (Shane)Burr of Wood River, Nebraska, and Ryan (Leigh) Sukraw of Gothenburg. She also had thirteen great grandchildren.
Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Jay and Virginia Rice, stepmothers Rutha Rice and Vera Rice, her husband, Paul, her son, Kent, and her brother Earl Rice.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Wednesday, December 29, 2021, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present.
Services will be held at the Cozad Nazarene Church, Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 10:00 am with Susan Sukraw officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Cozad Nazarene Church, or the Farnam Nazarene Church.
