Biography

Curtis Pauline Nutt, 94 of Cutis passed away on Friday, February 15, 2008 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.


Pauline Roberta Poteet Nutt was born to Arthur and Stella Hinton Poteet at Curtis, NE, on Aug. 29, 1913. At the age of 5 she moved with her family to Wichita, Kansas to make her home with her grandparents because of the death of her father with the Spanish influenza. She attended schools in Wichita and as she became old enough she worked in the grocery stores owned by her grandfather. In 1929 she returned to Curtis. In 1930 she was united in marriage in Oberlin, Kansas to John Nutt, of Curtis. To this union was born two sons; Marion Lee and Jon William. In 1933 they moved to a farm five miles south of Curtis and farmed there until 1949 when they moved into Curtis. They farmed for several years and then leased the farm because of Johné�a��a��s health. John passed away July 25, 1963. She remained in Curtis until 1974 when she retired and moved to Buffalo Bill Manor. She is a member of the United Methodist Church of Curtis, a Charter member of the Federated Garden Club at Curtis, the Frontier Historical Society of Curtis, the Lincoln Historical Society of North Platte, and a former member of the RSVP. She was the first dorm mother hired for the new University School of Agriculture at Curtis. She was dorm mother for 4 years and a supervisor for 6 years for the school at Curtis. She enjoyed volunteer work after retiring, and moving to North Platte.


Pauline is survived by her son Jon é�a��A"Billé�a��? (Judy) Nutt of Curtis, NE; one granddaughter Rhonda (Dr. James Jochim) of Byron, NE; two great grandsoné�a��a��s Dustin Haller of Byron, NE and Eric Haller of Cedar Rapids, NE; one Sister Eva Votaw of Wellfleet, NE; and two Sisters- in -law Evelyn Poteet of Joplin, MO and Dolly Poteet of Wichita, KS.


She was preceded in death by her husband, one son Marion Lee, her parents, her Twin brothers Dale and Gayle, and an infant brother.


Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 8:00 pm, Monday, February 18, 2008 at Blase-Wetzel-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Curtis.



Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the Curtis Cemetery, Curtis, Nebraska with Norris Grous officiating.



Memorials are suggested to the Frontier County Ambulance or the Frontier Historical Society at Curtis.
