Paul Ernest Pape Jr. was born in Lexington, NE on July 10, 1925 and passed from this life on November 4, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
At the age of 12, Paul moved to Gothenburg when his parents purchased a jewelry store from Otto Weiderander. Paul graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1943, and served as an apprentice to his father to learn the watchmaker trade. Paul served his country in the US Army.
Paul was a member of the Gothenburg Methodist Church, American Legion # 64, Gothenburg Community Playhouse, and Gothenburg Historical Society. He was an avid archer, carpenter, artist, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Paul also enjoyed riding his bicycle.
Surviving are wife, LaVon Pape of Gothenburg, NE, sons, Johnny (Peggy) Pape, David (Gidget) Pape, daughter, Susan O'Keefe, grandsons, Ryan O'Keefe, Ben (Kristy) Pape, Paul (Lindsey) Pape, Josh (Stephanie) Pape, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Pape, granddaughters Wendy Jensen, and Katie (Brandon) Beatty, eight great-grandchildren: Patrick, Ty, Aliyah, Quinn, Hailey, Michael, Xander and Dresden and a host of extended family and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Paul E Pape Sr., and Ruth (Eager) Pape.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE; Wednesday, November 6, 2013, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm with the family present from 5:00-6:00 pm.
Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, November 7, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating.
Private Family Interment will take place in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, NE.
Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg Community Playhouse, Gothenburg Historical Museum, or First United Methodist Church 1401 Lake Ave Gothenburg, NE 69138.
