Paul Lenz

Paul Lenz was born Sept 4, 1923 to Paul Herman and Katie May Lenz at Moorefield NE. He died Sept 27, 2009 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.

Paul was baptized on October 28, 1923, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Moorefield and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on June 7 in 1942.

Paul attended Moorefield School, graduating 1941. He was united in marriage on March 22, 1947 to lona Faye Earhart at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Moorefield, NE. To this union 9 children were born. Paul and lona were happily married for 63 years.

Paul was active in his community, as well as St. John's Lutheran Church of Curtis. He taught Sunday school for many years, in his later years he was honored to serve as an elder in his church. He was an avid reader and enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards and spending time with close friends and family. In Paul's younger years he was known to play Santa Claus at the grade school in Moorefield. Paul's true pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Paul farmed for many years, and worked at Monroe Tenneco plant in Cozad, NE for 17 years before retiring in 1988.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother Arthur and sister-in-law Elsie Lenz, sister-in-law Ella Lenz, brother-in-law Leonard Earhart and numerous valued friends and relatives.

Paul is survived by his wife lona of Moorefield, children: Cheri Bopp (Jim) Culbertson NE; Kenneth Lenz (Susie) Gothenburg NE; Dale Lenz (Laura) Oxford IA; Dwight Lenz (Nancy) Maywood NE; Jeff Lenz (Kimberly) Maywood NE; Kevin Lenz (Brenda) Seward NE; Les Lenz (Robin) Papillion NE; Katie Lenz , Alliance NE; Dennis Lenz (Tracy) Stillwater NY; brother Gerald Lenz, Curtis NE, sister-in-law Carrie Earhart Moorefield NE, 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends Larry and Jan Messersmith of Maywood, Mark and Turena Ehlers of Moorefield.
