Pamela Mary Houchin, 57, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died May 26, 2014 at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born October 7, 1956 in Lexington, NE, daughter of Ben and Lorraine (Johnson) Warner.
Pam grew up in Gothenburg graduated from Gothenburg High. She met Michael Houchin and they were married October 16, 1977 at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg; to this union 2 sons were born: James and Travis. Pam was a stay-at-home mom busy taking care of her boys. She also helped Michael with the family business "Mike's Sanitation" by handling all of the billing. Pam loved to spend time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren.
Pam loved helping others. She always did her best to help people in need and kept busy volunteering. She was involved in community activities. She was a board member of the National Bone Marrow Program and arranged bone marrow drives. She was the secretary of Dawson Gosper Crime Stoppers and volunteered for many years. She helped start "Endure the Cure" in Gothenburg and organized benefits to help families with medical expenses. She did many hours of volunteer work for the Gothenburg Cemetery and had recently joined that board.
Surviving are husband, Michael Houchin; two sons, James (Mia) Houchin, Travis (Mindy Lewis) Houchin; two granddaughters, Mina Houchin, Ada Houchin; grandson, Ami Houchin; her father Ben Warner; two brothers, Lonnie (Sandy) Warner, Brad (Michelle) Warner; two sisters, Patricia (Duane) Stevens, Linda (Eldon) Rodine; along with many extended family and friends.
Pamela was preceded in death by mother, Lorraine Warner and a nephew Joshua Dale Warner.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Friday, May 30, 2014 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with the family present from 5-7.
Funeral services will be held at American Lutheran Church, Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:30 am with Lonna Grabenstein PMA officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
