Opal Leone Bauer, 88, of Gothenburg, NE, died February 1, 2007 at the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 9, 1918 in Lexington, NE to Bert L. and Lena (Lange) Hollibaugh. She grew up in Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School.
Opal married Conrad Bauer on June 24, 1937 in Norton, KS.
She worked for Potter's Pharmacy for about 7 years and enjoyed visiting with the people. She was active in the Mariners at the First Presbyterian Church, enjoyed dancing, crafts, yard work and cooking. Opal's family was always the most important thing to her.
Survivors include Two Sons: Jerry (Pat) Bauer of Ord; Jack (Sarah) Bauer of Kyle, TX. Three daughters: JoAnn "Jo" (Don) Wilder of Kearney; Jan Rogers of Wichita, KS, Judy Goodwin of Gothenburg. Fourteen grandchildren. Nineteen Great-Grandchildren. One great-great grandchild.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1994, one sister and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Gothenburg, Nebraska with Rev. Matt Coplen officiating.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 4 at from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.
Memorials may be given to the Gothenburg Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad C/o 602 10th Street-Gothenburg, NE 69138 or to the First Presbyterian Church- POB 194-Gothenburg, NE 69138.
