Olive "Dutch" Rahlmeyer Mayden, 102, of Farnam, Nebraska, died July 21, 2011 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born October 16, 1908 at North Loup, NE, to Ernest and Rosanna (Wintermantel) Rahlmeyer. She graduated from Ord High School and continued her education at the Lincoln School of Commerce.
Before her marriage, she worked at the Weeks Hospital in Ord. She married Vergil L Mayden on November 1, 1934. They lived at several Nebraska locations, as her husband was an Agent Operator for the Burlington Northern Railroad. Olive worked some as a relief agent when her husband was called to fill in at other stations. They lived at Farnam for 20 years. Olive worked at the County Treasurer's office in Alma, when they were located there.
"Dutch" loved to dance and play a good game of cards. She attended many Saturday night dances and loved to listen to her family play music. Her hobbies included embroidering, quilting, and cross stitch. "Dutch" enjoyed having visitors and entertaining family and friends. You could always count on a homemade cookie or a home cooked meal if you had the time to stay.
Dutch is survived by her three children, Don (Arlene) Mayden of Fortuna, CA, Carolyn Eberly of Lincoln, NE, and Virginia (Kenneth) Adkisson of Farnam; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and one more great great grandchild to come any day now; several nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Olive "Dutch" was preceded in death by husband, Vergil, her parents, and her son, Ernest Lewis Mayden.
