Oi Sitorius

Oi Mable (Greene) Sitorius, 100, of Gothenburg, passed away on September 19, 2008 at Stone Hearth Estates in Gothenburg.

Oi was born on June 20, 1908 at her grandmother's home east of Gothenburg to John and Cora Greene. Oi and her family lived near Brady until she was 9 years old when they moved to Gothenburg. She graduated from Gothenburg High in 1925 and then attended Christian College in Columbia, Mo for a year and then she went to University of Nebraska and received her Bachelor of Science. Oi taught school in Friend, NE.

Oi married Raymond (Si) Sitorius on September 14, 1931 at Gothenburg. Oi and Si had 3 children: Virginia, Barbara and George. After their marriage they moved out to the family ranch where they lived for 40 years.

After retirement in 1971 Oi and Raymond enjoyed traveling through the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and South America.

Oi was an active member of the United Methodist Church since she was 12 years old. She was proud of the fact that she was a member of the same church for 88 years. She served as an 8th grade Sunday school teacher for 10 years. She also held many offices in the woman's society of Christian Service on the local, district and conference levels attending jurisdiction committees.

Oi was a Past President of the Gothenburg woman's club and she and Si were leaders of a 4-H club for 10 years. Oi was also a past member of the Eastern Star for over 60 years.

Oi was preceded in death by her husband in 1996.

Survivors include: two daughters Virginia (Hugh) Osmera of Los Alamitos, CA and Barbara Haberman of Hertford, NC; one son George (Marcia) Sitorius of Gothenburg, NE; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Trudy Greene and Eleanor Sitorius and numerous nieces and nephews.

Oi was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, one brother John Greene, two sisters Ila Greene and Irma Pearson, son-in-law Duane Haberman

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 21, 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm with the family present from 5-7 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 22, 10:00 am at the United Methodist Church, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Randy Dilts and Pastor Matthew Groenke officiating.

Burial will take place in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
