Norma Jean (Jeanie) Jensen, 74 of Gothenburg, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born December 6, 1932 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Harold and Ruth Owings Wilbourn. Jeanie grew up in Gothenburg graduating from Gothenburg High School in 1951. She was the second of four generations to graduate from Gothenburg High School.
On June 11, 1954 she was united in marriage to Gale V. Jensen at the First Presbyterian Church in Gothenburg. To this union two children were born.
Following her high school graduation, Jeanie moved to Ogden, Utah and worked in the offices of Pacific Fruit Express, a subsidiary of Union Pacific Railroad.
Later she was employed at Peterson's Supermarket, working there for 29 years until her retirement on April 1, 1988.
Jeanie enjoyed reading, traveling and attending the activities of her children and grandchildren. She also loved to bake and cook for family gatherings. Homemade chicken and noodles was her specialty.
She is survived by her husband Gale, a daughter Theresa (Rodney) Brooks, a son Allen (Karla) Jensen, all of Gothenburg, a sister Janet (Jerry) Payne of Tipton, Georgia, and five grandchildren, Julie (Radley) Breuer and Briana Brooks, both of Lincoln; Archer, Grant and Savannah Jensen, all of Gothenburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials are suggested to Central Plains Home Health and Hospice and the First Presbyterian Church in Gothenburg.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28th at the First Presbyterian Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. Matt Coplen officiating.
Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.
