Nicklas "Nick" Swan, 68, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, passed away peacefully with family by his side in Kearney, Nebraska on January 31, 2023.
Nick was born May 8,1954 in Gothenburg, Nebraska to Melvin and Florence Swan. Nick worked at Farmland Industries, Franzens Inc, and farmed. He was a member of the Gothenburg Fire Department for many years, Wild Horse Golf Club, and Zion Lutheran Church.
After retiring, he spent his time taking care of the farm, country cruising, golfing, gardening, enjoying his coffee crew every morning, listening to gospel music on Sunday evenings while scrolling the internet, but the most important thing to Nick was watching his grandkids in their sporting events and bragging about them to anyone who would listen.
Nick was a very political man and liked to voice his opinion quite often. He was always telling jokes (most not very appropriate), and enjoyed telling kids "Never run with a sharp stick in your hand or your eye will look like mine."
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Linda; children Mandy (Brett) Eddie of Wahoo; Tyler (Ainsley) Swan of Gothenburg; grandchildren, Kharissa, Kael and Karryn Eddie of Wahoo; Emery (Ryan) Swan of Kearney; Jaxon Earll and Drake Swan of Gothenburg; brother Paul (Kathy) Swan of Buffalo Grove, Illinois; sister-in-law Kay Swan of Cozad; along with many extended family and friends.
Nick is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Florence Swan; brother Doug Swan; mother and father in-law, Morris and Cora Devine; sister-in-law Charlene Devine.
