Nadine Brown, 84, of Curtis, NE, died August 26, 2022 at her home in Curtis, NE.
Nadine Kay (Hinton) Brown was born to Dale and Iola (Latimer) Hinton on March 25, 1938, She passed peacefully at home on August 26, 2022 in Curtis, NE.
Nadine was born northwest of the North Star School in rural Frontier County, Nebraska. She attended school at the North Star District until 8th grade and then attended the Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis, graduating in 1955. She attended Nebraska Teachers College at Kearney for two years. Her first teaching job was in Sutherland, Nebraska where she taught for three years.
On June 26, 1960, she was united in marriage to her best friend and life companion Harold Brown at the Congregational church in Stockville, Nebraska. This union was blessed with four
children Chip, Rick, Nick, and Jill. Nadine loved people. She had a smile and warm greeting for everyone. Her friends and family describe her as “loving, kind, full of grace, fun-loving, patient, hospitable, humble, smart, loyal, God-fearing, generous, and always positive.” She had a gift for making everyone feel special and unconditionally loved.
Nadine loved children of all ages, especially teenagers. She was a substitute teacher for Curtis and Maywood schools until she was 79. She was also a very active participant in school
activities with her children and grandchildren near and far. She was recently honored as “Fan of the Year” from the Medicine Valley Booster Club. Nadine was active in PEO, church, and
several clubs and organizations. Other hobbies included golf, bowling and spending weekends at the lake with her family and friends.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband Harold, parents Dale and Iola Hinton, In-laws Kenneth and Leona Brown, brother Don Hinton, brother in-laws Robert Brown and Al Moore
and sister in-law Judy Moore. Nadine is survived by her children Chip and Lory of Elm Springs, Arkansas and their children Joel (Kelly) and daughter Avalyn, Justin, Jamie (Louie) Galloway and son Greyson, and Melissa; Rick and Elaine of Fishers, Indiana and their children Nathan, Rachel, Renee, and Ryan; Nick and Amy of Curtis and their children Connor, Alissa, Joseph, Madison and Ethan; Jill (Adam) Patel of Curtis and their children, Joshua, Kyla, and Jonathan.
Visitation will be Friday September 2, from 2-6 pm at the United Methodist Church in Curtis with family being present from 4 to 6 pm.
Funeral will be Saturday, September 3, at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Curtis.
Burial will be at the Arbor Cemetery in Stockville, NE at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the family to be determined at a later date.
