Morris Devine, 90, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died November 29, 2014 in Gothenburg, NE.

He was born June 12, 1924 in Farnam, NE, son of Albert Devine and Rebecca (Hilton) Devine.

Morrie grew up in the Farnam and Cozad area and graduated from Cozad High. Morrie married Cora Gray on January 29, 1945, and they made their home north of Cozad until moving north of Gothenburg to her family's land; to this union, four children were born - Ron, Brad, Tim and Linda. Morris and Cora worked hard making the land into their home of 67 years. Morrie was a member of a bowling league, the Walnut Grove Baseball and Sod Busters Softball, he kept his love of baseball thru his life. Morrie's kids, grandkids and great grandkids were very important to him. Morrie was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was very strong in his faith and raised his family the same way. He was a member of the Church Council and Lutheran Brotherhood. He spent his life farming and ranching north of Gothenburg and had a special place in his heart for Herford cattle.


Survivors include his three sons, Ron Devine, Brad (Jackie) Devine, Tim (Roxie) Devine; daughter, Linda (Nick) Swan; 11 grandchildren: Kelli (Rod) Mattson, Kristi (Fred) Wilson, Charity Hilton, Andy (Holly) Devine, Carla Devine, Dusty (Amy) Devine, Jake (Janell) Ritz, Luke Ritz, Timari Devine, Mandy (Brett) Eddie, Tyler (Ainsley) Swan; 19 great grandkids: Colter, Chaleigh, Cadie, Emma, Brody, Kiley, Andrew, Tyler, Jacob, Ethan, Kennedy, Cooper, Kharissa, Kael, Karryn, Emery, Jaxon, Drake, Baby Cora due in January; brother Wayne (Norma) Devine, sister-in-law Kelva Devine; along with many extended family and friends.

Morris was preceded in death by wife, Cora on August 20, 2012, parents Albert and Rebecca Devine, brothers, Gilbert, Dale, and Loren, granddaughter Markie Rae, daughter-in-law Charlene Devine.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, December 4, 2014, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm with the family present from 5-7.

Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:00 am with Pastor Carol Mapa officiating.

Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
