Biography

Minerva (Olesen) Oman, 89, of Kearney, formerly of Gothenburg died on November 4, 2007.

Minerva was born on December 8, 1917 at Riverton, WY to Niels L. & Martha R (Nielsen) Olesen. As a young girl she moved with her family to Gothenburg. She attended school at Gothenburg Public Schools graduating from Gothenburg High School in 1936.

Minerva married Everett W. Oman on December 5, 1937 at her parent's home in Gothenburg. She and Everett operated Nifty Cleaners in Gothenburg and also One Hour Martinizing in Kearney until there retirement. In her life she brought much joy to those she loved through her talents; through her cooking, singing, but mostly through her love. She also enjoyed reading and knitting.

Minerva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Everett in 2003, a sister Geraldine Brueckner and two great-granddaughters.

She is survived by two daughters Cyndy (Gary) Robinson of Kearney, NE and Nanette (Jeff) Beattie of Sumner, NE; a sister Rose Olesen of Gothenburg, NE; five grandchildren; Lani (Henry) Heeg of Kimball, NE; Bart (Shana) Beattie of Sumner, NE; Koley (Clint) Ellingson of Kearney, NE; Brooke (Aaron) Davis of Lincoln, NE; Chivonne (Troy) Daum of Gothenburg, NE and 14 great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Ken Hutson officiating.

Register Book will we available for signing from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm, Friday, November 9 at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg.

Burial will take place in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Kearney, the First Presbyterian Church of Gothenburg or the Mt. Carmel Home of Kearney.
