Milton L. (Butch) Schulz, 80, of Gothenburg passed away on January 7, 2008 at his home in Gothenburg.

Milton was born on May 22, 1927 in Seward County near Garland, NE to Adolph R. and Elsie Margaret (Ficken) Schulz. He had his early education at a parochial Lutheran School in Seward County. He lived in Farnam, NE from 1942-1944. Milton graduated from Gothenburg high school in 1945. After graduation, Milton served his country in WWII from August 29, 1945-November 17, 1946, where he achieved the rank of Technician Fifth Grade in the Army Regiment 1802SP.

Milton married Jewel M. Roe on February 24, 1949 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Gothenburg, to this union 3 daughters Sharon, Laurie, and Jan, and a son Ken were born. Milton worked as an alfalfa mill operator and as a transport driver for Farmland CO-OP in Gothenburg. His enjoyed playing golfing and farming with his son-in-laws.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: Norbert & Virgil Schulz; brothers-in-law Lewis Wolf and LaVern Roe; and sister-in-law Ruth Morris

Milton is survived by his loving wife Jewel; 3 daughters: Sharon (Bob) Auld of Geneva, NE, Laurie (Jeff) Clark of Brady, Jan (Archie) Rickertsen of Gothenburg; a son Ken (Heidi) Schulz of Anchorage, KY; 3 sisters: Vera Wolf, Merna (Milford) Bratten, Elaine (John) Brown; 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 10, 2008, 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm with the family present from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2008, 1:00 PM at the American Lutheran Church, Gothenburg, Nebraska, with Pastor Matt Groenke and Lonna Grabenstien, PMA officiating. Burial will take place in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to American Lutheran Church or Central Plains Hospice.
