Milton H. Block, age 85 of Gothenburg passed away Monday, June 30, 2008 in Gothenburg.
Milton was born North East of Gothenburg, on January 24, 1923 to Rankey Reakus and Ellen G. (Buesing) Block. Milton graduated from Gothenburg High School in 1941. He served his country in the Army from 1945-1946 serving in the Asiatic Pacific.
Milton married Wanda Ruth Fleharty on April 3, 1945 in Gothenburg, Nebraska. The couple lived briefly in Tyler, Texas and returned to Gothenburg 1946 to raise a family.
Milton enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and going to McDonald's for breakfast and afternoon coffee.
Milton was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Ruth in 2007.
Milton is survived by his son Dean and wife Peg and their children Heather, Adam, and Joshua all of Omaha, NE; a sister Delores Streeter of Gothenburg.
Memorial Book will be available for signing Thursday, July 3, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Memorial service will be held Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg, Nebraska with Pastor Matthew Groenke officiating. Inurnment will follow at Ft. McPherson with Military Honors by the Gothenburg Firing Squad.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lutheran Church, designated for the Oaks Indian Mission in Oklahoma.
