Mike D. Libich, 58, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died January 14, 2014 at his home in Gothenburg, surrounded by his family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born December 30, 1955 in Liberal, KS, son of Harold and Shirley Libich. Mike grew up in Hooker, OK until the age of 11 when his family moved to Iowa and then later to Belleville, KS. He graduated from Belleville High School in 1974.
Mike married Janice Sweet at Belleville, KS on June 29, 1974; they had three children: Stacie, Travis, and Marshall. They Lived in Franklin, Western and Cozad finally making there home in Gothenburg.
Mike was an Electrical Lineman and worked for Franklin Public Power, Norris Public Power the City of Cozad and was the Electrical Foreman and City Inspector in Gothenburg. He was a member of the Nebraska Muzzleloader Association, Franklin Gun Club, Maxwell Gun Club and the Pony Express Ramrodders. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and telling jokes. He enjoyed helping others and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are wife, Janice Libich of Gothenburg, NE; parents, Harold and Shirley Libich of Elmore City, OK; daughter - Stacie (Kevin) Brueggeman of Kearney, NE; two sons - Travis (Kara) Libich of Gothenburg, NE, Marshall (Susan) Libich of Gothenburg, NE; six grandsons - Tristin Brueggeman, Brendan Libich, Corben Libich, Ethan Libich, Braylon Brueggeman, Weston Brueggeman; two granddaughters - Kirstin Brueggeman, Rebecca Libich; two sisters - Joyce (Mark) Kamm of Van Meter, IA; Pam (Ben) Adams of Lindsey, OK; along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his sisters, Brenda Libich and Kathy Moon; his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 1915 Ave J, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, January 16, 2014 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with the family present from 5-7.
Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 1915 Ave J, Gothenburg, NE, Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10:30 am with Father Don O'Brien officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery, Gothenburg, Nebraska.
