Melvin "Jay" Fisher, 69, of Maywood, Nebraska, died January 8, 2012 following complications from a heart attack in Lincoln, NE.
He was born July 4, 1942 in Maywood, NE; son of Leonard Steel and Ona Evalena (Blake) Fisher. He attended school in Maywood graduating from Maywood High School in 1962. Following high school he went to work for Curtis Metals until it closed in 1989. He then worked for the City of Maywood until he retired when he turned 65. Jay lived in Maywood until the last couple of years when he moved to live with his brother Gary and his wife Linda in Curtis.
Jay loved to play games, some of his favorites were cards, shuffle board, and horse shoes. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Jay always enjoyed a good meal. He was fond of family gatherings and enjoyed the time with his nieces and nephews.
Jay is survived by five brothers, Leland and Kathy Fisher of Beaver Crossing, Elden and Elaine Fisher of Lansing, KS; Marvin and Peggy Fisher of Curtis, Bill Fisher of Topeka, KS; and Gary and Linda Fisher of Curtis, NE; special friends, Shy Doyle, Sherrie and Denny Merrit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Rogene and Ida and brother Richard.
