Mell V. Schultz, 92, of North Platte, formerly of Farnam, Nebraska, died March 26, 2014 at Linden Court in North Platte, NE surrounded by her family.
She was born May 5, 1921 in Colbert, OK, daughter of Tom and Grace (Potter) Polson.
Mell grew up in Durant OK, and attended Mashburn Country School and Beach Grove School. She lived in Durant, OK until 1942 when she moved to San Antonio, TX. Mell married Jack Schultz on November 2, 1944 at San Antonio, TX; to this union two daughters were born, Cheryl Kay and Gayle Lynn. They lived in San Antonio, Salt Lake City, Spokane, Curtis, Hayes Center, Moorefield, and Farnam. Mell loved dancing with Jack. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, cooking and sewing. She liked to collect wild flowers and plants to make arrangements.
Surviving are two daughters - Cheryl (Paul L) Mista of Severance, CO; Gayle (Perry) Greco of North Platte, NE; grandson - Eric (Samantha) Arnold; great-grandson - Neil Josiah Arnold; great-granddaughter - Lillian Arnold; sister-in-law - Ruth Ann Schultz (Boyd Wakelin); nephew - Jim Schultz and his wife Michelle and their children Kurtis and Nathan; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Mell was preceded in death by husband, Jack C Schultz in 2011; father, Tom Polson; mother, Grace Polson; six brothers, Amos, Paul, Harlan, Clinton, Ross, and Orval Polson; two sisters, Virgie Cathey and Frances Moorehead; brother-in-law, Dick Schultz; niece, Cindy Schultz.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, April 01, 2014 9:00 am - 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 10:30 am with Rev. Cliff Transmeier officiating.
Interment will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.
