M. Dale Mcnickle

April 14, 1926 — May 9, 2015

Morris Dale McNickle, 89, of North Platte, Nebraska, died May 9, 2015 at Hilltop Nursing Home, Gothenburg, NE.

Dale was born April 14, 1926 in Farnam, NE, son of Harvey Ray and Lillie (Burrows) McNickle.  He grew up and attended school in Farnam with his brothers, Rex, Glenn, Verne and two sisters Elaine & Ethel.

He was united in marriage to Gladys Miller and to this union two children were born Geraldine and Beverly.  Dale married Lola Mae Howsden-Dietz on March 28, 1970 at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg.  To this union one son Matthew was born.  Dale lived on the family farm near Farnam his whole life until he retired for health reasons and he and Lola moved to North Platte in 1992.  Dale served in the US Army for a brief time in 1945. He was especially fond of his white face cattle and Husker Football. Dale was a member of the Farnam United Methodist Church for 76 years.  He was a member of the Farnam Lions Club and Odd Fellows.

Surviving are wife, Lola Mae (Howsden - Dietz) McNickle of Gothenburg, daughters, Geraldine and husband Larry Adler of Overland Park, KS and Beverly and husband Del Van Der Werff of Curtis, step-daughter, Rita Thomalla of Gothenburg, four Step sons  Paul and wife Linda Dietz of Lincoln,  Larry and wife Sandie Dietz of Fort Collins, CO, Delbert and wife Debra Dietz of Corpus Christy, TX and  Carl and wife Carol Dietz of Ogallala: and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Matthew McNickle, three brothers, Rex, Glen, and Verne, two sisters, Elaine (Bernie) Lindvall and Ethel (Vernon) Thomsen and son-in-law Bill Thomalla.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Tuesday, May 12, 2015, 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Services will be held at Farnam United Methodist Church, May 13, 2015 at 10:30 am with Pastor Neil Kloppenborg officiating.

Burial will follow in the Farnam Cemetery, Farnam, Nebraska.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, Farnam, NE or the Farnam Lions Club.
