Biography

Maxine Fae Jorgensen, 76, was born on March 4, 1934 north of Curtis, NE and departed this life on June 22, 2010, while residing at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, NE.

She was the first of four children born to Lloyd and Elsie (Hecht) Jorgensen. She attended country grade school south of Curtis and graduated from UNSA in 1952.

Her greatest ambition was to work as a nurse but due to her hearing loss, she was unable to fulfill this dream. Because of her devotion to caring for people, she continued to work in the hospital setting. Maxine worked at both North Platte Memorial and Lincoln General Hospitals, in the housekeeping department.

In 1987, she moved to Curtis and maintained her own home until 2008, when she moved to Senior Living Choices in Curtis. Because of failing health, she was moved to Hillcrest Rest Home in McCook in December of 2009.

Family was very important to her. She faithfully corresponded with family and friends. Maxine was a member of United Methodist Church in Curtis. She enjoyed needlework and reading.

Maxine is survived by her sister, Helen (Steve) Reed of Conyers, GA; two brothers - Allen (Jean) Jorgensen of Venango, NE; and Gary (Martha Jo) Jorgensen of Curtis, NE, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by parents, Lloyd and Elsie Hecht Jorgensen.
