Marye L. Franzen, 82, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died December 12, 2021 at her home in Gothenburg.
She was born March 23, 1939, daughter of Sidney and Hazel (Haynes) Williams. Marye grew up in Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High School with the class of 1957. On September 20, 1959, Marye was united in marriage to Larry Milan Franzen in Gothenbuurg. To this union, four children were born: Jacqueline, Julie, Craig, and Jodi. Marye was owner operator of Quality Clean dry cleaning for almost 25 years.
She was a member of the American Lutheran Church, and sang in the Church Choir, she cleaned the church tablecloths for over 40 years. Marye enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and attending Husker Baseball games. She could often be found volunteering at the senior center. Most of all, Marye enjoyed attending any and all of her grandkids activities that she could.
Survivors include her husband Larry, three daughters Jacqueline (Steve) Blocher of West Point, Julie Good, of Gothenburg, Jodi (Dan) Sell, of Gibbon, and one son, Craig (Libby) Franzen of Gothenburg; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sister, Inez (Rex) Gunnerson of St. Paul; brother, Terry (Kathleen) Williams of Palmer, NE, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Marye was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Hazel Williams, father in law and mother in law John & Goldie Franzen, and grandson Lane Franzen.
Visitation will be held at the American Lutheran Church, 1512 Avenue G, Gothenburg, Nebraska; Thursday, December 16, 2021, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm, with the family present from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
Services will be held at the American Lutheran Church, Friday December 17, 2021 at 10:30 am with Pastor Doug Hjelmstad officiating.
Interment will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be directed to the Gothenburg Senior Center or the American Lutheran Church.
