Margy Ellen Rothrock, 94, of Nevada, formerly of Gothenburg, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Life-Care Center in Reno, NV.
Margy was born on March 18, 1913, at Big Springs, NE to Fritz Victor & Anna Madge (Root) Miller. She attended local schools in Big Springs. She married Joy Grant Rothrock on May 24, 1928 at Julesburg, CO.
She and her husband, Joy, spent their younger days operating cafes, traveling, hunting for artifacts and rocks, and creating displays of them for their billiard parlor.
Margy had lived in Nebraska most of her life until 2000, when she moved to Reno.
In 2006, she moved into Life Care Center in Reno.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church in Gothenburg and was famous for her delicious pies, rolls and burnt sugar cakes. She was also known for her sweet, kind, and gentle nature and was loved by all who met her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joy Rothrock, in 1975; her brothers Clive & Victor and sister Regina; two sons-in-law, a granddaughter and a great granddaughter.
Survivors include: her daughters, Joyce Cunning of Gothenburg and Jacqueline Frandsen of Reno, NV; her son, James Rothrock of Colorado Springs, CO; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the Methodist Church in Gothenburg with Pastor Larry Viter officiating. Burial will take place at the Gothenburg Cemetery next to her husband, Joy.
Visitation will be at the church 1 hour prior to the start of the funeral service.
Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church.
