Margaret L. Block, 95, of Gothenburg, NE, died September 16, 2019 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE.
She was born December 12, 1923 in Gothenburg, NE, daughter of Julius and Esther (Isackson) Malm. Margaret grew up at Gothenburg and graduated from Gothenburg High. She married Edwin R. Block on January 12, 1942 at Philipsburg, KS and began her life as a homemaker and farmwife. They had two children - Diane Kay and Douglas Kent. She was a member of American Lutheran Church, YFW, Happy Homemakers Extension Club, American Legion, Red Hats. She enjoyed traveling and went on many tours and trips. Margaret lived in Gothenburg her entire life except for and Edwin wintered in McAllen, TX from 1975 to 1985. She was creative and enjoyed painting and ceramics. She could often be found in the kitchen cooking and baking. She liked to spend time with family and friends playing cards.
Survivors include her son, Doug (Stephanie) Block of Gothenburg, NE; daughter, Diane (Leslie) Brown of Gothenburg, NE; four grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother Roger Malm of Roswell, GA; brother Don (Betty) Malm of Springfield, OR; a sister-in-law Sandra (John) Ellefson, of Central City, NE; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Julius and Esther Malm; her husband Edwin Block; brother Harold Malm; sister Ellen Traudt; brother-in-law Wes Traudt; sister-in-law Barbara Malm.
Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE; Wednesday, September 18, 2019, 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm with the family present from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at American Lutheran Church, September 19, 2019 at 10:00 am with Pastor Jon Mapa officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, NE.
