Lyle Trullinger

Biography

Lyle Dean Trullinger was born in Clarks, Nebraska, on April 20, 1933 to Charles and Edna (Lumadue) Trullinger.

Although born in Nebraska, he spent his early life in Wyoming, graduating from the Laramie High School and the University of Wyoming, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree on a football scholarship.

Lyle saw active duty in the United States Army in 1956 and later in served eight years in the Army Reserve.

In November 1953, he was joined in marriage to Diane McDowell. Their marriage was blessed by the addition of two children, a daughter, Ann Trullinger and a son, Ryan Trullinger.

Enjoying a professional career as a teacher for some 27 years, Lyle served chiefly in small Nebraska communities, but, in particular, he served 20 years in the Wakefield, NE school system. As part of his role in teaching, he always enjoyed his assignments as coach in sporting activities. He had a passionate love of football and long enjoyed golf. He was a member of the Wild Horse Golf Club in Gothenburg.

The Trullingers moved permanently to the Gothenburg area in 1988, taking up residence at the McDowell family farm south of the Gothenburg community. Lyle always had a keen interest in civic matters, particularly where they affected the lives of people in Nebraska, and served as a Board member of the Foster Care Board.

Throughout the years he retained an abiding interest in the University of Wyoming, and was a regular attendee at the University of Wyoming Alumni Association activities. He also gave generous support to the university's sporting program through the Cowboy Joe Club.

A warm and affable man, Lyle will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; daughter Ann Trullinger of Snelling, CA; son Ryan and wife Leslie Trullinger of Gothenburg, NE; a nephew Gary Trullinger and a niece Zoe Freeman.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Wayne and his sister Lorraine.

Cremation was chosen. There will be no services at this time.
