Lorraine was born on December 12, 1918, at Lincoln, NE. When she was 4 years old, she was adopted by Dr. A. E. and Maude Reeves and joined brother, Richard, in their home in Farnam, Nebraska.
She attended school in Farnam and graduated in 1936. While in high school, she took Normal Training to become a teacher and upon graduation attended summer school at Kearney State Teacher College. The following fall, Lorraine taught school at 'Sunflower College', a country school southwest of Farnam. She continued in that position for three years where she was loved by her students. While she was teaching, she fell in love with Kenneth Oman of Gothenburg, NE. They were married on June 18, 1939, at her parents' home in Farnam. They were blessed with two daughters: Jenelle and Pamela.
Lorraine and their first daughter, Jenelle, followed Kenneth to Fort Hood, Texas, where he received infantry training before being shipped out to the European Theater of WWII and the Battle of the Bulge . Upon returning from the war, their second daughter, Pamela, was born. The family began farming on the Oman family farm in 1948, south of Gothenburg and began attending the Banner Methodist Church.
Kenneth and Lorraine enjoyed traveling the United States and taking Kenneth's artwork from his retirement hobby to statewide fairs and art competitions.
Lorraine was a member of the Banner Methodist Church, the Gothenburg VFW Auxiliary, the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a volunteer for Reach for Recovery for Breast Cancer patients. She enjoyed taking roses from her garden to friends in the Gothenburg Memorial Hospital.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, her husband, Kenneth, in 1999, and a son-in-law, Bernie, in 2006.
