Biography

Lois Nadine Towne, 66 of Curtis, NE died on April 24, 2008 at Lincoln, NE.

Lois was born on August 3, 1941 at Cozad, NE to Richard Dale and Ruby "Russell" (Brown) Spencer. She grew up in Cozad and received her education there. She also lived in Cozad, Lexington, and Fremont.

Lois married Leland Towne on June 1, 1967 in Lincoln, NE. They moved to the farm in Curtis in 1970. They had three daughters Lynda, Tenna, and Leanna. Lois helped Leland on the farm, worked as a waitress at DJ's, Burger Barn, Deere Crossing Cafe (Mary Lou's) just to mention a few. She belonged to the Curtis Bowling League. Lois enjoyed quilting, crafting, collecting pigs. If she wasn't home she was in town playing 9 hole golf cards with her friends (which was quite often). She was a "Social Butterfly". Lois used to have a large garden and grew everything from Indian corn, gourds to green beans. She loved to go on trips. Tenna, Leanna and her even went to Montana to see where a Steven Segal movie was filmed. She loved watching Jean Claude Van dame, Steven Segal, Chuck Norris, movies and every episode of Law and Order: SVU.

She loved to watch the craft and decoration shows on DIY and HGTV. She was always trying to make something different or do something different to the house. Or she would call Lynda and tell her, "Hey are you watching tv? They are making something that you can do." Or she would write down the directions.

She would talk the girls into helping her do something different to the house. Leland never knew what he would find when walking in to the house, but he was always her biggest supporter. Lois and Lee loved to go for rides in the country. They were opposites, but they fit together like two peas in a pod.

Lois always put everyone first. She would do anything she could for anyone, from taking friends to doctor appointments to just sitting and visiting. She would let her own dishes go for a week but go do someone else's. She would sacrifice her own needs to help someone else.

Friends and Family meant the world to her. She was the glue that held the family together. If she saw someone on the street she would holler at them even if she was a block away.

Lois is survived by her loving husband Leland Towne of Curtis, NE; Daughters Lynda (Wade) Lange of Curtis, NE; Tenna Towne of Lincoln, NE; Leanna (Paul) Klempa of Lincoln, NE; Brother Frank (Nancy) Spencer of Blair, NE; Sisters Delores (Bill) Livingston of Lexington, NE: Beulah (Karl) Tiede of Overton, NE; Linda (Terry) Williams of Cedar Bluffs, NE; Judy (Bernard) Case of Fowler, CO; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
