Lillie "Betty" Elizabeth Wing, 87, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, died January 15, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, NE.

She was born May 10, 1934 in Plad, MO. Lillie grew up in Missouri, she also lived in Massachusetts before settling down in Nebraska.

Betty Thompson married Harvey Wing in 1950 and they later divorced. In 1983, she remarried Harvey Wing.

When Betty's children were young, the phrase “stay-at-home-mom” didn't exist. It was usual for women to stay home with the children while their husbands worked, but even by the standards of the era, Lillie was an exceptional wife, mother, and grandmother. She cared deeply for her family and for children. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She was always the first to offer help. She and Harvey regularly took people in who needed a place to stay and always ensured that every child who crossed her home was safe, healthy, and happy. Her life revolved around children.

Survivors include three daughters, Debbie (Will) Mayers of Gothenburg, NE, Laurie Summers of Grant, NE, Catherine Mall of Deland, FL; three sons, David H. (Jean) Wing, Michael Ryan, Cozad, NE, Kirt Ryan of Attleboro, MA; sister in law, Norma (Rex) Robison of Cozad, NE; brother, Charles Daniels of San Diego, CA; .

Lillie was preceded in death by husband, Harvey I Wing, parents, daughter Patty Koch, son Keith Ryan.

Memorial Services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, NE, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, 2:00 PM, with  Pastor Dan Urman officiating.

Memorials may be given to The Meals on Wheels Program.
