Lewis Gaulden Mathieu, Jr. 68, passed away October 22, 2010 in Gothenburg, after battling myotonic dystrophy for a number of years.
Lewis was born to Lewis Gaulden and Mary Aileen (Kinyon) Mathieu Sr on February 1, 1942 in San Antonio, TX. He graduated from Holdrege High School. Lewis married Sharron Newstrom on January 4, 1964 in Lincoln. He worked in construction in Holdrege and had his own masonry business in Gothenburg for several years until getting into the bowling business.
Lewis was an avid Husker fan. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, archery and his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife Sharron Mathieu of Gothenburg; daughters Merilee (Michael) Parks and Shari (David) Murer both of Kearney, NE; son William Mathieu of Lincoln, NE; mother Mary Aileen Mathieu of Gothenburg; grandchildren: Heidi Parks and fiancé©e Jared Bussing of Omaha, NE; Joseph Murer and Zachary Murer of Kearney, NE and great granddaughter Wren Bussing of Omaha, NE.
Lewis was preceded in death by his father Lewis Sr.; his father and mother-in-law George and Maxine Newstrom and niece Jennifer Stewart.
